“Why not in my city?” and updates on the plan

7 April 2015

These are the only UK dates. I am not adding any more as the idea was to go out and play a few indoor shows and not get involved in a protracted tour that would eat into the writing sessions for “Weltschmerz”. Sorry if some of you are disappointed.

Belfast I didn’t get an offer as the numbers weren’t interesting enough for promoters.

German, Dutch and possible Polish dates are on the cards for November and still in negotiation.

South America is being discussed for April/May 2016 as I have decided to move the “Weltschmerz” recording to June/ July to give us more writing time in Jan/ Feb/ March/ April. The intended release date will be early September just before a UK tour taking in dates missing from the “Farewell to Childhood” schedules followed by European touring.

We have been talking to my agent in North America but so far the numbers just do not work and considering I’ve sold less than a 1500 copies of “Feast ” there it is a huge gamble I am not willing to take at this moment in time as the touring costs are enormous.

In South America I will hopefully get the guarantees from promoters and play to relatively large numbers in bigger venues. I also don’t have the bureaucratic issues I have in North America that are financially crippling before we even take a step there.

North American touring is however being actively explored and people are trying to make it work.

To bring it into perspective. I took pelters on here from Spanish fans for initially missing out Madrid and Barcelona on the rescheduled dates in Jan/ Feb. I put them in and we played to less than 400 people across the 2 cities. I lost £2500 overall on that rescheduled section, mainly due to currency exchanges as the Euro rates changed against us.The merchandise saved me!

I do those sort of numbers on a North American tour and I am in serious trouble and knowing 2 bands who’ve been out there in the last year or so who between them lost over £55k it’s a very scary proposition!

And the problem is those are the kind of crowd numbers being projected in a lot of NA cities by promoters unwilling to give me guarantees! Unless I have financial guarantees for at least a break even on the massive costs involved I cannot come over. Sorry.

I do what I can but just because there are a few people posting here asking for a show in this city or this country doesn’t mean there are the numbers out there that make it financially viable.

At this stage in my life and career the very last thing I need is a tour that turns into a costly black hole and as much as there is a will to make it happen the realities of the situation have to rule any decisions I make.

I hope you can try and understand this.
