woke up with a severe hangover this afternoon after night out in Dalkeith with old friends and duty with the dawn patrol. Switched TV on just as Hearts scored the winning goal in the derby as the fuzz allowed me consciousness and the ability to recognise 10 minutes of absolute shite and the end of another woeful managerial reign after an embarrassing display at Tynie! My email threw up a link sent by a friend that felt like I was having my legacy rewritten and my monuments defaced in a very clandestine manner. A whiff of betrayal and a reminder of the banal that is accepted as being genuine so much these days.
You would think that an entry into a day like that would have been an acute descent into a dark abyss.
My smile reigned supreme.
Why?
I listened to the full playback of the first full mix of the album yesterday.
It’s the finest piece of work I consider ever having being involved with and if I was to die tomorrow the smile would still be carved on my face.
Calum has done a production that in my honest opinion comes close to eclipsing anything I have done before and is beyond superlatives.
It is in the now and it is here in all it’s glory. You may think that in recent months that the broadcasts from here have been a build up to a phantom pregnancy and bearing too much expectation.
I say here now with hand on heart that “A Feast of Consequences” is 68 minutes of sheer brilliant emotion.
I found myself crying last night when we played it back in the studio.
And what we listened to was the first full mix, before the polishing, before the mastering.
It’s stunning.
I am so fucking happy! 🙂
