Rock and Roll Doctor

27 January 2014

A trial of a Monday but as the day closes there’s a deep smile of satisfaction!

This morning was seeing the nurse at the health centre about stopping smoking and a box of patches and inhalers courtesy of the free prescription service by the Scottish government has set me up to get rid of a bad habit I relapsed into at the very end of the last tour! Say nothing please, I am very aware of the consequences!

It is the worst drug known to man and being alcohol free for over 2 weeks now and having no withdrawal symptoms or even the slightest sense of loss I am approaching the next test of will power with more confidence than before.

I’ve decided to donate my liver to medical science as my bloodworks came back today with a perfect score! I honestly don’t know how i do it! Apart from a slight cholesterol high attributed by my Doc to excessive consumption over the last few months all is fine and dandy! I did breath a huge sigh of relief as I’d been expecting to receive a dressing down of sorts and a possible yellow card!

The mundane extended to laundry, worming the cats and getting kindling in with an unexpected visit from a lovely sprightly smiley old lady who was conducting a survey for what turned out to be the BBC. She stood outside my open kitchen door for about 10 minutes as I was in the middle of an intense discussion with Yatta re the Summer gigs and the European tour which already has nearly 6 weeks of shows on the calendar as the first part of that tour! I had no idea what she wanted until my conversation ended but recognised that the electronic clipboard gadget in her arms didn’t belong to someone looking for directions and I figured she wasn’t there to read the meter! She was happy to wait till I had finished and was quite cheery as she listened to the cunning plans being aired! I invited Marion in for coffee and we had a good old chin wag about Scottish politics, the shadow of a town that is Dalkeith( she came from Danderhall) and general state of the nation. The survey was endless and repeated itself as it delved to find out my opinions on the BBC and BBC Scotland in particular. It soaked up an hour in between a battery of incoming and outgoing phone calls and before I knew it darkness was upon me and the day was practically over.

The office was hectic today as the standard cd’s had arrived on Friday, 3 days early and when no one was here! Luckily my neighbour had a key to the house and garage and loaded them in!
All the outstanding orders were sorted out and in the post on their way into the world by mid afternoon! Lofty was a star in the post room today! Totally back on track and fully restocked! Locked and loaded!

The mail order should get a bit busier on the merchandise front as I’ve decided to go for a sale on the tour T’s with the 2013 dates and some other clothing items that have been around for a while. Check out the deals at http://shop.fishheadsclub.com/product-category/t-shirt/ . The shirts with tour dates are reduced by 30% and up to 50% if you buy one together with one of the other Feast shirts or other nominated CD’s and DVD’s! We are having a bit of a clear out and have dropped the prices on a load of the shirts including the ladies T’s which are on the same deal as the 2013 tour dated T’s! A wee idea for Valentines day for the Fishy lady in your life ?

Tonight is trying to put my new 2 terra bite drive SKY+ box into the rack and I’m sure if you’re in the county you will hear my curses and swearing as techy things aren’t my forte and I tend to get a bit frustrated manual or no manual!

Tomorrow is a meeting at the Corn Exchange re the new acoustic treatments before an interview with the local paper on music piracy and copyrights! The rest of the day is bleeding fingers on excel pages as I have to gather together the publishing and recording catalogue information required by people I met last week. Between that and accounts that are baffling everyone just now it promises to be an excruciatingly boring day as far as a singer is concerned but as the tour dates come in there is that wondrous glimmer of adventures on the far horizons!

I love a good plan!
