fantastic gig last night, over 2 hrs 30 thanks to some false starts:-)
After the “Lisa” intro Frank is supposed to walk on stage on his own and begin the “Punter” riff” and we join him to begin the song.
He stood there defiantly on his own and then began playing the “Fellini” riff.As we took our places he was confidently out there in his own Frankie world and I decided to follow him into the song.As we all started to play he realised what he’d done and the assurance drained from his playing and the song started to collapse.
I called a halt and said we should start again on the intended opener.The band stilled and Frankie started a riff again this time it was “Long Cold Day”.
We couldn’t believe he could screw up twice and I ended up banging my head laughing on the stage.
It wasn’t Frankies best night and a couple more fluffs and bad endings had him a wee bit nervy.Glad it wasn’t the London show!
All in all a great show and a lot of Fishy gabbing added to the set length which went well over curfew but no one at the venue cared.
Vigil was tremendous last night as was Cliche, Dark Star and Square Go.
Hand up from singer for getting a bit carried away on intros and a couple of “bad words” crept in when talking about Lockerbie.Two young boys with parents had to be given the Men In Black “forget you heard this” treatment much to their bemusement.:-0
It was hot, hearty and sweaty and we all had smiles backstage.
Now I have to cut back the set length and tbh it’s a tough decision.
It’ll be strange only playing for an hour and 20 minutes on stage over the next 3 shows!! Especially going on at 7.40pm and being loused by 9 o clock!!!!
London we have to be out the city before midnight as regulations mean we have to pay
