Back on the wheel today.Connor the painter ( and fellow diver in the ELDC) arrived at 8.30. I was still fraggled until 11 when my dad came up for coffee. Obvious point of discussion was the derby Final. Everyone is talking about it here, even neutrals, as being a wonder game!I Get flutters of panic even now and I am not even playing. God knows what’s going through the team’s minds in the lead up!Plumber finished his work here and new steel radiator up on wall in kitchen which is now gloriously gleaming even with it’s first base coat. Two more to go!Joiner and electrician platoon sections nearly on charges as the 2 days we missed last week and the glorious day of sunshine today were perfect to get the velux window replaced. Now it’s hold things back. they are here tomorrow and need to put a hard shift in to clear the way for the decorator and to get the hallway cupboards fitted so I can clear the rest of the house of assorted debris that’s waiting on a new stash space.
Accountant re publishing calculations was first call and hope the explanation of what’s needed sat clear in the mind.
Dinner with Oligarchs proceeding and should know more in a few weeks.
No news on the “Game of Thrones” audition. That call is made tomorrow to find out what’s happening. Always a hassle being here and going to London for auditions. Last minute calls mean travel is always expensive and I don’t get a chance to choose the date and time.
Thursday set up for studio session with Calum Malcolm to go through the recordings and attempt a few small repairs on vox.
Could be mixing next week!
News from Poland that the documentary film has moved forward leaps and bounds and we may have a close to finished copy next week. It’s over 2 hours and twenty minutes long so far!!
Foss and Frank up next week to go through keys of the material for the May shows. Foss, a Jambo, is gutted he’ll miss the final as he has a wedding that day in Ayr. We were talking on the phone when Hutch, another Jambo, arrived and again an animated discussion on the potential events and mutual inner panic at the outcome for both parties. We have agreed to remain friends despite the result.
News from lawyer that the “3rd Party” has admitted to roughly 900 sales between “Internal” and “Songs FT Mirror” of illegal copies. Getting more annoyed at their attitude and albums are still up for sale. They think they are going to get away with paying me just a royalty! I hasten to strongly disagree! The call tomorrow will be “interesting”.
Photo session with the local paper who are following up on my AA/insurance for musicians pronouncements! It may even tumble into the “redtops”. AA phoned me up to apologise today but said it was out of their hands. I remained calm but made my point again. They cringed.
New microwave plate ordered (30 quid??), carpet cleaner organised to sort out the dust ingrained Turkish carpet I bought in Istanbul when I played my first gig there. In the shop in the souk for 2 hours and in-numerous cups of tea while young boys unrolled rug after rug until I felt too guilty and bought one before my bladder burst or they collapsed under the weight of fields of dense weave! Paid for it by credit card and never thought I’d see it or the money again. I was wrong. It arrived 3 weeks later and fitted perfectly in the studio when I moved in here!
Managed to get the microwave working so defrosted and heated up a frozen curry I’d bought from the local Health Food store. Their curries are so famous that Ronnie Corbett, the comedian, buys hundreds of pounds worth from them when he comes up to his house in Gullane. He’s another jambo! His photo and words of praise for the curries, cooked by the wife of the owner, are on a poster in the window!
Stopped drinking today until the final so washed it down with cranberry juice and water. I look on it as a kind of Footy Lent!
News that haggis had gone down well in Germany and bemused a few small faces put a smile on my face.
Cold frames watered and shut for the night as temperatures are dropping. Firewood scavenging trip on cards soon and chainsaw needs sharpening.
All in all a good day and set up for a good curve through the week where I can get into organising more elements and putting tings in their proper places. With a fair breeze the kitchen will be virtually finished by Friday and the energies should start to settle in a home that will get as close to “normal” as it ever could be given the inhabitants!
