RE-MASTERS UPDATE- Having just completed the write up for the “Sunsets on Empire” sleeve notes that have come in at 8500 words I am coming to the realisation that these projects are a lot bigger than anticipated. I have taken the decision to put the first 4 releases back to the end of September.
They will be available for pre order from the first week of July.
The research and sifting through the photo archives has taken longer than expected and the writing has dominated my days recently.I’ve already sent the “Sunsets” notes out to trusted reviewers and all have come back positive and also surprised at the detailed history that is necessary to document these projects properly.
I myself have been taken to places and events I’d forgotten that had such an influence on my career through the period of 1996-2004 and I’m discovering that what I am writing are the bones and threads of the autobiography. It’s a fascinating exercise in that respect as it’s the first time I’ve taken a retrospective look at that era of my life for a long time.
Needless to say the writing is very open and honest and will probably shock some of you who weren’t party at the time to the circumstances I was working in and the problems I was dealing with while creating those albums.
There is obviously a lot of detail missed out as the sleeve notes are relevant to the albums and some subjects are only touched on as valid references.The autobiography will deal with them in a far more concise and literary fashion.
I always said I want these re releases to be special and definitive and that is why I have decided to give myself more time to make sure they are exactly how I intended to leave the catalogue.
I appreciate your patience and I am confident you will be more than happy with the eventual results.
