Retired to garden today while waiting on return phone calls that never came.Longer this matter takes to resolve the more annoyed I am going to get and the clock is running. An absolutely ridiculous and jaw dropping error by some people who have been presented with more than enough evidence to show their mistake and who so far haven’t bothered replying even with a basic apology.
I’d got back from Poland to find that Mac the gardener had erected the fruit cage and had even managed to smuggle another 6 inches in height thus saving me from further scarring on the door frame and struts.Need to get the Ph sorted out with some ericacious compost as the blueberries especially like it low.Weed suppressant membrane waiting to be placed and bark chippings to be ordered to finish the project.
After eating some absolutely bland and expensive berries from Tescos the other day I don’t need any more convincing on the value of the fruit cage.
Had to call Marshall’s Seeds to find out where my order was as I’d thought it would have arrived when I was in Zielona Gora.Turned out they’d queried it as it was so big and put it on hold. Now on way and Mac happy!
Greenhouse already packed out and this will take it to saturation level.
Cleaned filters on the 2 ponds and removed a load of debris and rotting leaf matter to make them look slightly more presentable.Water still way too cold to move new fish stocks in and the lone goldie will have to continue his vigil in the Japanese pond for a bit yet.
Unbelievably I’ve identified him as “suicide”, the one that fell 2m off the wall onto a slate covered bed and survived a couple of years ago. He’s the only remaining inhabitant out of 35 or so fish across the ponds that were massacred by the cold weather last year.
Nice to hear the water tumbling outside the office window again!
The sight of upward thrusting green shoots in the garlic beds and the seed trays in the green house, the new buds and emerging bulbs all point in the right forward direction and it’s nice to feel a bit of sun on my head while walking around the garden again.
Just a brief encounter with nature today took away the edge of the negativity of the business issues although I am finding it tough dealing with 3 issues that are all rooted in the past and in all honesty if I’d paid more attention on 2 of them at the time and over the period they’d be easier to sort out now.The problem with being a small outfit and having no other choice but to deal with things myself. it’s not an unwillingness to delegate. There’s no one to delegate to.
Rest of day phoning Eon for the third time to sort out the new electric meter and the three phase issue. Ironic hanging on phone watching Sky news discussing reaction times to phone calls to agencies!
Visit from Dad,Hutch dropped off kindling and tipped me off on a firewood stash, old friend from Holland called, contacted Foss,Frank, camera team and Calum about the weekends events and wrote itinerary, Yatta about possible Swiss festival tip off, went to pub for pint and discovered someone murdered in Haddington last night at the taxi office and someone else murdered in Tranent same night in separate incident. Back after Tescos and cooked a venison casserole and mashed taties for dinner probably on my own in front of the fire as daughter retired to bed.
Not a bad day really, in all honesty! 🙂
