Just back from Glasgow to discover kitchen had moved forward by leaps but the bounds were hampered by late arrival of sink .I have hot water and central heating but will be washing the plates and dishes in the bath tonight. It will be a night to chill with a big smile as a fine sense of accomplishment about today. The gig went really well and I had 1700 English teachers balet dancing in the “Armadillo” to “the Company”. Started of well and drew a few laughs as I examined the way lyrics had drawn people into learning English and my experiences with other countries and my songs acting as a passport for traveling the World in much the same ways as many of the teachers in the audience used teaching English to fund travels.

Explained then sang”Chocolate Frogs” before introducing Frank and Foss, explaining the politics behind and the history of “State of Mind” and then performing the song.”52″ was up next with it’s story and explaining how I have to condense stories and images etc to wrap in the song.”Family Business” with it;s social commentary explanation followed and then we closed after around 50 mins with “The Company” and the entire auditorium on it’s feet.Great reception and everyone seemed to appreciate the plenary speech.I was quite proud at the end, definitely something out of my comfort zone and a great challenge that was met.

I’ve been told the British Council may want me for further work at other events around the World:-)

It was a great and fun experience and I met a lot of very interesting people that I hope to meet again on travels.

Open thanks to Eric Baber for being a tremendous host and for inviting me along to the conference. I would have bought the T shirt if they had one! 🙂

The speech can be seen online for the next few weeks and a copy is being sent to me for inclusion on the Fishheads site in the next few weeks.
